Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea spp.)

Bougainvillea spp.

Bougainvillea are one of the most popular plants in the Southwest, where they are prized for their massive display of bright flowers that come in a variety of vibrant colors! Bougainvillea spp. are South American natives and come in three different varieties - bush form, vine form and Torch Glow. The Torch Glow is the more compact variety. We love to plant them here in our warm coastal climate where they can produce a heavy bloom almost all year long!

Bougainvilleas love to grow in full sun exposure, in fact, they love the heat and can become extremely drought tolerant with low to moderate watering needs once established. These are excellent plants for adding lush color into water-wise gardens, which is one of the reasons why they are so popular here in Southern California! They can be seen decorating walls, fences, gates and hedges throughout the southland and we also love to plant them on slopes! They are versatile too, so some people also choose to grow them in pots, where they can be placed on patios or gracing an entryway.

If you love colorful plants, you’ll love our premium selection of Bougainvillea grown right here at our nursery! We recommend feeding them with our Super Charged Moon Juice for optimal results! At Palm Paradise, we custom grow ours from only our premium quality specimens. We have been growing superior quality plants and trees for over 20 years, so we can assure their quality is at the top of the class!
